SEAGEN

Exploitation of marine currents using twin rotor turbines in the MW range

Partners:

für Strömungsmechanik und Hydraulische Strömungsmaschinen (IHS) Universität Stuttgart, Jahnel-Kestermann Getriebewerke GmbH, Lust Drivetronics GmbH
Funding by:

Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (BMU)
Duration: 1.8.2005 - 31.12.2008
Persons in charge: Jochen Bard (Project Manager), Giovanni Mattarolo, Martin Shan, Peter Caselitz, Jochen Giebhardt, Matthias Puchta

Focus:

Conceptual investigations and simulation, deployment and testing of the pitch system, implementation of the near-hardware software and communication testing, commissioning, local testing, monitoring, realisation of a fully automatic speed controlled operation, verification of the simulation models

The aim of this project was the development, manufacturing and testing of a 1.2 MW tidal flow turbine in a configuration with two independent rotors under exploitation of the knowledge gained during the »SEAFLOW« project.
