Invitation to the Presentation of Energy Transition Scenarios
We are excited to invite you to the culminating event of the PtX Allocation Study, where we will present the latest findings and scenarios related to South Africas energy transition. This session, building upon the discussions from the last stakeholder workshop in April, will focus on the following three scenarios:
- The implications of current policy without a CO2 target for 2050.
- A domestic net-zero transition pathway.
- A net-zero pathway, with a focus on accelerated early PtX export.
Utilising a sector-coupled energy system model for South Africa, we analysed these scenarios to gauge their impact on a least cost journey to net-zero for the country.
Event Highlights
- Insightful Discussion: Delve into least-cost energy transition pathways up to 2050 and explore the transformative potential of Power-to-X technologies.
- Interactive Session: Engage with peers to exchange ideas and drive impactful discussions.
- Influential Outcomes: Contribute to the shaping of key conclusions aimed to guide South Africa's carbon-neutral aspirations.
Who Should Attend?
The aim of the workshop is to involve South African experts from the public, private and academic sectors in the development of robust conclusions.
Why Participate?
This workshop is a great opportunity to contribute to and influence the conversation on South Africa's energy strategy and policies. Your insights will play a crucial role in refining transition strategies, overcoming barriers, and pinpointing further research priorities.
What to expect?
- Overview of energy system transformation and PtX in South Africa
- Recap of project goals and activities
- Briefing on the first integrated, sector coupled energy system model for South Africa
- Presentation of various long-term, cost-efficient transformation pathways
- Opportunities for dialogue and networking with other stakeholders
- Influence the study’s outcomes and help shape the future renewable energy, hydrogen and PtX development in South Africa.
Join Us!
Don’t miss this chance to be part of a pivotal discussion on the future of energy in South Africa. Your participation is not just valuable — it’s essential.
We cordially invited to join us for the afternoon event at the same location, this time hosted by the HySecunda project from 14:00 to 17:30 SAST(GTM+2), focusing on market modelling and certification of PtX projects.
