EEPOS is a research and development project funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme and runs for a time span of three years (October 2012 – September 2015). The EEPOS consortium develops a new system for energy management and automated load control on the neighbourhood level, the EEPOS Neighbourhood Energy Management System. With the new system, we aim to achieve the following goals by automated shifting of controllable electrical loads and active end-user envolvement in energy management processes:

  • Matching of local electricity generation and consumption
  • Congestion management in local electricity grids
  • Increase of energy efficiency

The EEPOS system will be demonstrated, tested and validated in two extensive field tests in Helsinki, Finland, and Langenfeld, Germany as well as in a complementary simulation based virtual demonstration study for the municipality of Asparrena, Spain.
